Burn Calories Faster With Squash

 

 

To burn calories, you need to have exercise. From jogging, aerobics, RPM to full-beat dance like salsa, or martial art exercise like Muay Thai. Weight lifting exercise is also effective to burn calories. However, if you want to do something non-ordinary, more fun but burn calories faster, then you should try : squash!

 

Squash is an indoor sport that came from UK. Using a 9,75 m x 6,4 m field, with 4,57 m front wall and 2,13 m rear wall. Except the front wall, all other side of the field is made from glass.

 

To play squash, you need to hit the ball to the front wall using a squash racket. Squash racket differs in shape from tennis racket. Squash has 5 different type of ball. All balls are made from rubber, but each has its own speed intensity and size.

 

 

5 Types of Squash Balls

 

Ball with green or wihite dot :

The speed is very low and has an extra super slow - very low bounce.

 

Ball with two yellow dots :

Low speed ball with super low - low bounce.

 

Ball with one yellow dot :

This is the standard ball, with low speed, but slow - average bounce.

 

Ball with red dot :

An average speed ball with medium - high bounce.

 

Ball with blue dot :

This ball has a fast speed and very high bounce.

 

 

How to Play Squash

 

Squash is a competitive sport with two player. The player who first got 9 points will win the set. However, if the game is draw, continue until one of the player got 10 points. There are 5 sets of game in squash, so who win 3 from 5 sets, he/she wins!

 

Basically squash is not only 'hit the ball and running fast', it also requires you to use tricks and tactics to enable you to manage your energy.

 

 

3 Tricks To Win Your Squash Game

 

  1. Focus to the ball and your opponent

In squash you play with your opponent in the same side, meaning both of you are heading to the wall. This will make you difficult to see his/her strikes direction. To overcome it, always focus to the ball direction and try to approach your opponent to predict his/her racket swing direction, and at the same time this move will give him/her some pressure.

 

  1. Right position of your hand grip

Basically all sports that use racket have their own specific trick to swing the racket. In squash, there is a trick to make your racket feel lighter and easy to be controlled. Place your hand grip a bit higher to the racket.

 

  1. Good serve

Make sure to do a serve with a good bounce back that can give your opponent uneasy move to make.
