If you examine the concept of common
knowledge you would be forced to acknowledge that it is a relative term.
What is common knowledge to you may not be common knowledge to the
person that has just finished using the
health club equipment before you. For example: let's discuss the
recent lawsuits against tobacco companies. The tobacco companies are
losing one lawsuit after another because it evidently has just now
become common knowledge that inhaling smoke into your lungs over a long
(or even a short) period of time may be very detrimental to your health;
leading to
fatal lung disease such as cancer.
